Historic Mortgage Rates is owned and operated by Lofink Labs LLC. This policy explains how the website uses browser storage, sharing features, hosting services, and advertising. For privacy questions or requests, contact Lofink Labs.
Mortgage calculations
The rate explorer calculates results in your browser. Our calculation code does not submit your entered mortgage rate or loan amount to a calculator server, and you do not need an account. Advertising and hosting services make separate technical requests as described below.
Saved scenarios and reading preferences
When you save a scenario, its name, loan amount, interest rate, and term are stored in this browser’s local storage under hmr-scenarios-v1. Reading settings are stored under hmr-reading-v1. They are not synchronized to other devices or submitted to a calculator server. Other people using the same browser may see them.
These values remain until you change or remove them or the browser clears its storage. Use Clear saved scenarios to remove saved options and Reset preferences to return to the default reading settings. Clearing browser site data also removes this information. If browser storage is blocked, these features still work for the current visit.
Sharing and downloads
Choosing Share my comparison copies a link containing your rate, loan amount, selected loan series, and selected historical week in the URL fragment. Anyone you share the link with can read those values. Browsers do not include the fragment in the normal HTTP request, but scripts running on the page can access it. Do not share a link if you do not want those numbers disclosed.
Downloading a comparison or extra-payment schedule creates a CSV on your device. Share cards are generated locally as PNG images and always include your rate and historical context. Your loan amount and payment are excluded unless you select the checkbox to include them. Preview the card before sharing it. Anyone you send an image or CSV to can read its contents.
Advertising policy
We use Google AdSense as this website’s advertising service. The site loads Google’s advertising code, which connects your browser to Google even when an ad is not displayed. Ad availability depends on Google’s approval and serving decisions, your privacy choices, and advertiser demand.
Google and other participating advertising vendors can use cookies and similar technologies to recognize visits to this website and other websites. These technologies support ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and, when permitted by your choices and applicable requirements, personalized advertising based on browsing activity. Information processed can include your IP address, browser and device details, page URLs, advertising identifiers, and ad interactions.
Advertisements are separate from our mortgage data, calculations, and editorial content. An ad is not our endorsement of a lender, financial product, or service. Clicking an ad takes you to an advertiser or another third party whose own terms and privacy practices apply.

Advertising and cookie choices
Personalized ads for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland require consent collected through a Google-certified consent platform. When a consent message is shown, you can accept, decline, or manage the purposes and participating vendors it presents. Declining personalized advertising does not prevent you from using our mortgage tools.
Use Privacy & cookie settings in the footer to reopen Google’s message and change or withdraw a previous choice when that message is available. If the message is unavailable or blocked in your browser, the footer link brings you to the controls below. Google account settings and browser controls are additional choices; they do not replace a consent message where one is required.
You can manage or opt out of Google personalized advertising through My Ad Center. You can also review participating third-party advertising companies and their opt-out options at YourAdChoices. Opting out of personalized advertising does not necessarily remove all ads. Browser settings can block or delete cookies and other site storage; doing so may also remove your saved scenarios, preferences, and consent choices.
Cloudflare hosting and analytics
We use Cloudflare to host, deliver, and protect this website and to understand its traffic and performance. Hosting and security services process technical request information, which can include IP addresses, requested URLs, request times, and browser information.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page performance, such as which pages are viewed, browser and device categories, referring sites, and loading or responsiveness metrics. Cloudflare’s Web Analytics beacon does not use cookies or browser local storage to collect these metrics and does not fingerprint individual visitors. This describes Cloudflare Web Analytics; Google advertising and other Cloudflare security services have separate data practices.
We use these reports to identify technical problems and improve the website. Read about Cloudflare Web Analytics, its performance measurement practices, and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for details about Cloudflare’s services and data handling.
Google Analytics and future measurement
Google Analytics is not currently enabled on this website. We may add it to understand page usage, navigation, and the performance of website features. If enabled, Google Analytics can process page views and interaction events, referral information, browser and device details, approximate location, and cookie or similar identifiers. Its collection and advertising features depend on the configuration and your choices.
Before enabling Google Analytics, we will update this policy to describe the active setup and configure the notices and consent controls required for that collection. We will not intentionally include mortgage rates, loan amounts, saved scenario names, or contact details in analytics events. Google advertising measurement is separate from Google Analytics and may operate under the advertising practices described above.
Learn about Google Analytics data practices and privacy controls. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. That add-on does not disable Cloudflare analytics or Google advertising.
Contact and privacy requests
For questions, corrections, or requests about personal information handled by Lofink Labs LLC, use our contact page. Depending on where you live and the processing involved, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information or to object to certain processing. Please identify this website and your request without sending mortgage account numbers, financial documents, or other sensitive information. Browser-only saved data can be removed directly using the controls described above.
If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide and use it to respond to your request. The Lofink Labs contact service is separate from the mortgage calculation tools. We may update this policy when the website’s practices change; the date above identifies the latest revision.
